India Lift Champions Trophy After 12 Years, Beating New Zealand by 4 Wickets- IPL

IND vs NZ Champions Trophy Final: India Lift Champions Trophy After 12 Years, Beating New Zealand by 4 WicketsRohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team beat Mitchell Santner’s New Zealand by four wickets to win the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which was being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, on March 9 (Sunday). The Men in Blue made up for the loss of the 2000 big tournament Final and won their third Champions Trophy title and the first one after 12 years. This is also their 7th ICC trophy win. They have two ODI World Cups and T20 World Cups and now they also have three Champions Trophy titles.

Kuldeep had gotten Rachin Ravindra out on the first ball of the eleventh over. Kuldeep Yadav caught and bowled Williamson and got him out for 11 off 14 balls. After 12.2 overs, his wicket left NZ struggling at 75/3. Williamson’s wicket put them on the defensive side.

Daryl Mitchell saved the day for New Zealand by scoring 63 runs. He only hit three boundaries in his innings while facing 101 balls. With 53 off 40 balls, Michael Bracewell remained not out. In his innings, the left-handed batsman hit three boundaries and two sixes. Rachin started quickly earlier in the innings, but he was out for 37 off 29 balls. Facing 52 balls, Glenn Phillips scored 34 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy both took two wickets. Kuldeep claimed key wickets of Rachin and Williamson, while Varun dismissed Will Youn and Phillips. Ravindra Jadeja bowled an impressive 10-0-30-1 spell. Although Axar Patel didn’t take a wicket, his 8-over spell conceded only 29 runs.

Middle-Order Stumbles After Rohit’s Crucial Knock

India reached the 50-run mark in just 7.2 overs, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s quick start while chasing a target of 252. He formed a massive 105-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill. However, Gill couldn’t convert his start into a big score and got out after scoring 31 runs off 50 balls.

The talented Indian batsman, who has been in sublime form, couldn’t do justice in the Final as Bracewell sent him packing for mere 1 run. Subsequently, Rohit continued to take the innings forward but was dismissed after scoring a crucial 76 runs from 83 balls. His departure was followed by Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel carrying forward the momentum. But both of them (Iyer, 48 off 62 balls; Patel, 29 off 40) too left in haste. New Zealand remained in the contest because of wickets and persistent dot balls.

KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya finished the match for India as they secured their third ICC Champions Trophy title. The Men in Blue won the title for the first time since 2013 and added the 7th ICC trophy to their cabinet. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Rohit Sharma became the second Indian captain to win more than one ICC title after MS Dhoni.
