This season, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has welcomed a unique new addition to its broadcast team a robot dog. The announcement was made through a fun video shared on the league’s official social media handles. In the clip, popular commentator and former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison introduced the four-legged robot revealing that it will be part of the TV coverage throughout IPL 2025.
The robot dog included a camera function and accepted voice control commands. The robot dog reacted to Danny Morrison’s instructions in the video while also waving at the camera to demonstrate its ability to connect with both him and the audience. Through his entertaining presentation style Morrison made the robot introduction both exciting and entertaining for his audience.

As part of the campaign, the Indian Premier League has invited fans to help name the robot dog. In the video, Danny Morrison encouraged viewers to share their suggestions in the comments, saying, “We want you to name our latest team member.”
Fans quickly filled the comments with fun and creative name suggestions for the robot dog. The video also featured a few IPL stars like Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Reece Topley. All three looked amazed as they watched the robot move, smiling and laughing while checking it out. In a fun moment, Danny Morrison even had a friendly race with the robot, but the robot easily beat him leaving Morrison catching his breath at the crease.
