The Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) will go on as planned, even though tensions between India and Pakistan continue. Both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have made it clear that their T20 leagues will not be affected and will continue without any changes.
After a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted airstrikes as part of “Operation Sindoor.” They hit nine terrorist camps based in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK). The move led to a sharp rise in tensions along the border between the two countries.
Despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions, the 2025 Indian Premier League season will go ahead as scheduled. A BCCI official assured that the current situation will not affect the league’s timetable, and all matches will proceed without any changes.
Airport Closed, IPL Teams May Travel by Road from Delhi
According to the Times of India, IPL teams and the BCCI are exploring other travel options because the airport in Dharamsala is closed, and the nearby airports in Amritsar and Chandigarh are also shut. With no flights from Chandigarh, teams might need to take the road from Delhi to reach their destination. An official said they’re keeping a close eye on government advisories and will take decisions based on the situation.
Flights to and from several airports near the India-Pakistan border, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, have been stopped until 5:30 AM IST on May 10. Because of this, many airlines have cancelled their services and shared updates with passengers about the travel changes.
“We will have to wait and watch for now. There is no option because even Chandigarh airport is shut so we need to see what can be done. Two teams are already here and MI were supposed to arrive later this week for their match on May 11. The nearest option is the Delhi airport but that would mean a long road journey for the teams. We are tracking government advisories and will take the call as necessary,” said a senior BCCI official.

Punjab Kings will take on Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on May 8. Both teams have already reached Dharamsala and are preparing for the match. As per the Times of India, the game is expected to go ahead as planned unless the Indian government decides otherwise.
