England Cricket Eyes Tim Southee as Bowling Consultant for Summer FixturesThe England cricket team is reportedly in discussions to appoint former New Zealand pace spearhead Tim Southee as a bowling consultant ahead of their marquee summer fixtures. With a five-Test series against India starting in June and the Ashes later this year, the side aims to bolster its support staff.

Southee, who retired from international cricket in 2024, could join head coach Brendon McCullum

Tim Southee has taken 391 wickets in 107 Test matches, making him New Zealand’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. With James Anderson unavailable due to domestic commitments with Lancashire after his retirement, Southee will play an important role in guiding a young England bowling attack through its transition.

According to the BBC, England sees Southee as an option for the time being to replace Anderson. “Their summer plans make for fascinating wallpaper and include a Test against Zimbabwe in May, followed by a series against India A and then the main India series. The Ashes against Australia wrap more excitement onto an already very busy schedule for Ben Stokes’ team.”

Since Brendon McCullum took over as coach, he’s brought a bold and fearless approach to the national team. He’s joined by Jeetan Patel, Marcus Trescothick, and Paul Collingwood, each bringing their expertise to the team. James Anderson is helping the next generation of English fast bowlers as a consultant. Rob Key oversees the cricket operations as the Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket.
