The ECL season two kicked off on March 05. An impressive bowling from Bangalore Bashers as they successfully defended 150 runs and extended their winning streak to three matches. Earlier, after opting to bat first, Umang Sethi’s 12-ball 32 runs provided a rollicking start to the Bashers, but they lost a few wickets in quick succession. Ankit Kumar’s impressive 9-ball 42 runs knock put things back on track, but skipper Abhishek Malhan struggled to score boundaries as he could only muster 21 runs off 18 balls.
Dynamic Delhi chipped in with wickets at regular intervals at the tail end of the innings and restricted Bangalore Bashers to 150/9 in 10 overs. Uday Suthar bagged three wickets for Delhi. Shahid Irshad Naik and Navdeep Kundu chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Sunny Nagar contributed one wicket to the downfall.
In response to 150 runs, Dynamic Delhi lost skipper Digvijay Rathee for just 12 runs, but Sunny Nagar’s blistering 15-ball 38 provided much-needed acceleration at the top. Manvendra Singh Chauhan looked in sublime touch but couldn’t sustain the momentum for long, departing for 31 off 13 balls.
Bangalore Bashers’ bowlers wreaked havoc in the latter half of the innings, striking at regular intervals. Mohd. Asif (24) attempted to stage a comeback, but his progress was cut short. Dynamic Delhi collapsed like a pack of cards, slumping to 134/9 in 9.4 overs. With the last batter not stepping in to bat, the Bashers sealed a 16-run victory. Kashish Pundir shone with the ball for the Bashers, claiming three wickets. Zala Hardev chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Ankit Kumar, Zala Vanrajsinh, Tanush Sethi, and Yuvraj Porwal contributed one wicket to the downfall.
Rajasthan Rangers Struggle Continues with Another Defeat
Chennai Smashers edge past Rajasthan Rangers with a thrilling 6-run victory, extending their winning streak to three consecutive games.
What a contest! This game went right down to the final over, keeping both teams in the hunt till the very end. Chennai opted to bat first and got off to a solid start but struggled in the death overs, posting a modest 143. However, their bowlers stepped up brilliantly to defend the low total. Ankit Nagar was once again the standout batter, smashing 63 off just 14 balls. With the ball, skipper Mahesh Keshwala continued his excellent form, returning with figures of 2/20 in 2 overs. Ankit Nagar and Shubham Matta also chipped in with 2 wickets each, ensuring Chennai held their nerve.
For Rajasthan, it was a frustrating night. Their bowlers did an excellent job, with Bhupendra Sharma and Vipin Bhardwaj picking up 2 wickets each, but their batting lineup failed to capitalize. They kept losing wickets at crucial moments, never gaining momentum in the chase. Karanjeet Singh Shah was their top scorer, managing 31 off 15 balls, but it wasn’t enough to get them over the line. Their losing streak continues, and they will need to regroup quickly.
