IPL 2025: Chennai Super Kings Playing XI against Lucknow Super Giants | LSG vs CSK
The Chennai Super Kings, who performed their worst in the history of the Indian Premier League by losing five consecutive matches in the first six matches played, have some last few hopes left for playoff qualification and will be playing their next match against the Lucknow Super Giants. From here, the team needs a remarkable turnaround like RCB had last year when they won seven of their upcoming eight matches. This article will discuss CSK’s playing eleven for the upcoming match.
CSK has played 6 matches in the season so far, losing 5 of them. The team started their season with a victory against the Mumbai Indians, but since then, they have lost back-to-back matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab, and KKR. The team also faced a huge blow with Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad being ruled out of the season due to injury, and now the captaincy is back with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It will be interesting to see whether CSK can make a big turnaround or if they will be out of the playoffs early in the tournament.

Top Order
For the top order, CSK will have two New Zealand batters, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway. Given the CSL’s current form, both batters need to score runs to provide a foundation for a big total. After the injury to captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi will continue to take his position at number three.
Middle Order
For the middle order, CSK will have four all-rounders and no proper batters. The lack of a solid batting option in the middle overs can also be attributed to CSK’s current position in the season. We will watch Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravi Chandra Ashwin bat for the team in the middle overs. Meanwhile, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to bat in the lower middle order and may come out only for the last few overs.
Bowlers
On the bowling side, CSK is expected to have a strong bowling attack with the spin department led by Noor Ahmed along with experienced spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The pace attack will be led by Matheesa Pathirana, Khallel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj.
