Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions and three-time IPL title winners, will be playing their next match against Delhi Capitals, who have performed exceptionally well this season. After the last match against Punjab was abandoned due to rain, KKR’s road to the playoffs became even more challenging. This match, number 48, will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, and this article will discuss Kolkata Knight Riders’ expected playing XI for the upcoming match. 

After the defeat in the first match against Bengaluru, KKR won three out of the next five matches and was doing well. However, in the last three matches, the team performed poorly, losing two matches. In the most recent match, Punjab Kings had already scored over 200 runs in their innings. During the season, KKR has only won against Hyderabad, Chennai, and Rajasthan Royals. The team is currently in 7th position on the points table and needs to win all upcoming matches to secure a playoff spot.

Kolkata Night Riders Predicted Playing XI Against Delhi Capitals

Top Order

In the top order, Kolkata Knight Riders will have West Indian all-rounder Sunil Narine and explosive Afghani batter and wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Sunil Narine hasn’t performed for the team as he had in previous seasons, which has also resulted in weak opening partnerships. The team has tried combinations between De Kock and Gurbaz, but they are now expected to continue with Gurbaz for the upcoming matches. In the third position, captain Ajinkya Rahane is expected to bat, as he showed aggressive intent at the start but hasn’t been able to convert it into big innings. 

Middle Order

For the middle order, KKR will have Venkatesh Iyer, who has disappointed with his performance so far and was acquired for a whopping price of 23 crore. Along with him, the team will have Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh in the no. 5 and 6. Meanwhile, in the lower middle order, KKR will have Raman Deep Singh and all-rounder Andre Russell. 

Bowlers

In the bowling department, KKR will have SouthAfrican Anrich Nortje ,along with the Indian duo of Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora in the pace attack. In addition to these three pacers, Andre Russell will also bowl some crucial overs. In the spin department, the team will feature two world-class spinners, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarty.
