MI vs GT: Toss Update
Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain): “We are going to bowl first. It’s simple reason. Don’t know how it’s going to play and with the dew around, we will chase.
The win last season was on the black soil. We played two games on the red-soil surface but ended up on the losing side. In the second innings, the ball does a lot under lights. It was different last season. On black soil, chasing is always a preferable option.
The preparation has been fantastic. The boys are excited to go. The goal is to back each other and lift someone up when they are down. A happy place.
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): “I think we have batted first plenty of times here so nothing changes for us. We were also looking to bowl first but now we have to bat first.
Pitch Report (Nick Knight and Michael Clarke):
Knight: “We are here in Narendra Modi Stadium, one of the most magnificent stadiums in the world. This is game two of this season at this venue. More than 400 runs were scored the other night here. A different pitch will be used tonight. I have got Michael Clarke with me who is waiting patiently. What do you make of this pitch?”
Clarke: “I’m little unsure to be honest with you. It’s definitely not like the one used last game. Different clay. I have got a funny feeling that this pitch tonight is going to be a two-paced. I think it’s little bit patchy. That was a belter. This is going to be like that 180 par. I just think there is going to be enough for the bowlers. Change of pace, new ball might kiss off the surface.”
Knight: “Do you think it’s going to suit one side more or not? What do you think?”
Clarke: “Both sides are pretty consistent. Both teams would like to win the toss and chase just in case there is some dew. Both teams are outstanding and you got to play your best cricket tonight.”
