Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Jamie Overton shared a touching moment that shows just how much MS Dhoni is admired in IPL 2025. Overton said watching Dhoni walk out to bat was such a special experience that he immediately texted his dad and told him he had to come see it live. The stadium erupted with noise, louder than ever, proving that Dhoni still brings unmatched excitement every time he steps onto the field.
After playing his first home game for CSK, Jamie Overton shared how he texted his dad and agent right away to describe the incredible atmosphere at Chepauk when MS Dhoni came out to bat. He said the crowd’s roar after Ravindra Jadeja got out was unreal, with fans on the edge of their seats waiting for Dhoni. Overton, who has been to plenty of big sporting events including Premier League games admitted he had never heard anything like it before. The noise and energy, he said, were on a whole different level.

“I messaged my dad and my agent after the first home game. I told them, ‘You’ve got to come and see MS walk out to bat.’ Jadeja got run out, and the whole crowd cheered—just because it meant Dhoni was coming in. I’ve watched Premier League games and been to a lot of sports events, but I’ve never heard noise like that,” Jamie Overton shared with ESPNcricinfo.
“Dhoni holds the bat quite low, while I’ve always had the more English or Aussie style with higher hands. But here, with spinners getting less bounce, I’m working on staying lower and keeping my hands more relaxed. I feel like I’m in a good place with my batting right now.” Overton added.
MS Dhoni was brought back as captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) midway through IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out for the rest of the season. It hasn’t been the smoothest ride for CSK this year they’re struggling at the bottom of the points table and facing the risk of an early exit. Their next challenge will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 24, where they’ll be hoping to turn things around.
