Kamindu Mendis pulled off a stunning catch on Friday (April 25) to dismiss Dewald Brevis during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Brevis, who was making his debut for CSK, looked in great touch and got off to a fiery start. He smashed 42 runs off just 24 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes, before Mendis ended his stay at the crease with a brilliant grab.
SRH needed something special to break Dewald Brevis’ momentum, and Kamindu Mendis delivered just that. In the 13th over, with Brevis looking dangerous, Harshal Patel bowled a half-volley outside off. Brevis struck it cleanly towards long-off, and it looked set to clear the boundary. But Mendis had other plans. He flew to his left, fully airborne, and grabbed the ball with both hands to complete a spectacular catch — a moment that gave SRH a much-needed breakthrough.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put on a solid bowling display to bowl out Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 154 in 19.5 overs. Right from the start, SRH were in control — Mohammed Shami set the tone by removing Shaikh Rasheed on the first ball of the match. CSK tried to mix things up by sending Sam Curran at number three, but that move didn’t pay off as he got out for just 9. Young Ayush Mhatre looked promising at the top scoring a quick 30, but his wicket before the end of the powerplay left CSK at 50/3 after six overs.
CSK’s middle order tried to rebuild with Jadeja and Dewald Brevis taking charge. Jadeja was dropped early but couldn’t make it count, falling for 21. Brevis looked dangerous and smashed 42 off 25 balls before a stunning catch by Kamindu Mendis ended his knock. After that, things went downhill for CSK, with wickets falling quickly. Shivam Dube’s dismissal for 12 added to their struggles and they couldn’t finish strong, ending with another disappointing total.
