MI Dominate LSG by 54 Runs, Surya & Rickelton Shine, Bumrah’s Four Wickets Take MI to Fifth Consecutive Victory- IPL

MI vs LSG Highlights: MI Dominate LSG by 54 Runs, Surya & Rickelton Shine, Bumrah’s Four Wickets Take MI to Fifth Consecutive VictorySuryakumar Yadav and Ryan Rickelton’s half-centuries, coupled with a strong bowling performance, guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to their fifth consecutive win in the IPL 2025. Under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, MI defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs. Suryakumar continued his good form with 54 runs, while Ryan Rickelton hit 58 runs, enabling the five-time champions to post a total of 215/7.

While bowling, the legendary Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer, taking four wickets. Trent Boult provided good support with three wickets, Will Jacks grabbed two and Corbin Bosch picked up one wicket, conceding just 26 runs in his four overs.

Suryakumar Yadav’s 54 off 28 runs helped him become the leading run-scorer of IPL 2025, crossing the 400-run mark with his third fifty. He also reached the milestone of 4,000 IPL runs. His partner, Ryan Rickelton, played a key role too, scoring 58 runs including four sixes and as many fours keeping MI on track for a total over 200, despite Tilak Varma (6) and Hardik Pandya (5) falling quickly. One of the highlights of Suryakumar’s innings came when he went down on one knee to lift a waist-high ball from Prince Yadav (1/44) over fine leg for a six.

LSG’s Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan were the best performers with two wickets each, while Prince Yadav, Digvesh Rathi and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each. LSG chose to bowl first, expecting the pitch to favor spin under the sun, but it didn’t quite go as planned. The pitch turned out to be more batting-friendly and none of their bowlers could really contain the stroke play.

Early Strikes by Jasprit Bumrah Spark Top-Order Collapse

LSG got off to a rough start while chasing as Jasprit Bumrah struck early, removing Aiden Markram in the second over. Nicholas Pooran, who was looking in good form, followed him back to the pavilion in the seventh over. Just after Pooran’s dismissal, skipper Rishabh Pant’s tough run continued as he was dismissed for just four runs in the same over. By the 15th over, LSG had lost half their side, managing only 135 runs.

Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni were looking solid at the crease, but their efforts were cut short when Trent Boult picked up their wickets in the 12th and 15th overs, respectively. Mumbai Indians now turn their focus to their upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR), set to take place on May 1 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
