Before IPL 2025 started, many people were talking about a team possibly scoring 300 runs in a match. In just the second match of the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) came close by scoring 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). While a few big totals have been seen this year, the 300 barrier is still untouched. However, KKR’s finisher Rinku Singh believes that reaching 300 is definitely possible and that any of the 10 teams could make it happen.
“Yes, we can do it. IPL has reached a stage where even 300 is possible; last year, Punjab chased a total of 262 runs. All teams are strong this season – anyone can get to 300,” Rinku Singh said.
Rinku Singh Reflects on MS Dhoni’s Advice
Rinku hasn’t been at his best this season, scoring 133 runs in seven innings at an average of 33.25 and a strike rate of 146.15. He is currently sixth on the list of top run-scorers for KKR this season. The left-hander spoke about the challenges of playing the finisher’s role for KKR and shared the advice he received from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni.
“I also talk to Mahi Bhai often — he tells me to stay calm and play according to the match situation. Things fall into place when you stay composed,” Rinku Singh said while sharing about his conversations with MS Dhoni.
Rinku also spoke about the continuous learning process and how he keeps observing Andre Russell. Despite scoring only 168 runs from 11 innings last season, KKR showed their faith in him by retaining him for ₹13 crore ahead of the auction.
“I’ve been learning since I started playing in the IPL. I watch Russell closely, especially how he bats in the final overs and uses his body to generate power. I keep observing and picking up things from him,” Rinku added.
