Rishabh Pant has been fined ₹24 lakh for slow over-rate during Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, April 27. The game was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
This was Pant’s second offence. Earlier this month, after LSG’s match against MI at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, he was fined ₹12 lakh. In that game, the Super Giants had lost to the five-time champions by 54 runs.
“As this was his team’s second offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs,” the IPL said in a release.
“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will be fined either INR six lakhs or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”
The Super Giants have become the second team to be fined twice this season, after the Rajasthan Royals. Earlier in March, Riyan Parag was fined ₹12 lakh for his first over-rate offence during a match against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati. After the Rajasthan Royals’ match against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, April 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Sanju Samson was fined ₹25 lakh.
