Sanjana Ganesan Responds Strongly to Trolls Targeting Angad Bumrah- IPL

Sports broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan has responded strongly to social media trolls who mocked young Angad Bumrah for his facial expressions while his father, Jasprit Bumrah, was playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 27. Ganesan made it clear that their son is not a topic for entertainment.

“Our son is NOT a topic for your entertainment. Jasprit and I do everything we can to keep Angad away from social media because the internet can be a horrible and nasty place. I completely understand the risks of bringing a child to a cricket stadium full of cameras, but please know that Angad and I were there only to support Jasprit and nothing else,” Sanjana Ganesan wrote on her Instagram after Bumrah’s brilliant four-wicket haul in MI’s big win over LSG.

Sanjana Ganesan was furious at social media trolls who used words like “depression” while talking about Angad, who is not even two years old yet. Jasprit Bumrah also shared her post on his Instagram story to show his support.

“We have no interest in our son being viral Internet content or national news, with unnecessarily opinionated keyboard warriors deciding who Angad is, what his problem is, what his personality is, from 3 seconds of footage. He is one and a half years old. Throwing around words like trauma and depression in reference to a baby says so much about who we’re becoming as a community and it’s honestly really sad. You know NOTHING about our son, nothing about our lives and I request you to keep your opinions online true to that. A little honesty and a little kindness goes a long way in today’s world.” Ganesan added.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Impressive Comeback: 9 Wickets in 6 Matches

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah recorded his best bowling figures of the season. He broke the backbone of LSG’s batting by picking up the wickets of South African batters Aiden Markram and David Miller. Later, he also dismissed finisher Abdul Samad and tailender Avesh Khan. Bumrah gave away just 22 runs in his four overs, helping Mumbai Indians bowl out LSG for 161 and win the match by 54 runs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their fifth consecutive win and briefly climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. However, they were soon pushed to second after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) later in the evening on double-header Sunday. Since making his comeback from injury, Jasprit Bumrah has played six matches for MI, picking up nine wickets at an impressive average of 16 and maintaining an economy rate of 7.50 runs per over.
