After beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) moved up from ninth to eighth in the IPL 2025 points table. The win was extra special because it was SRH’s first-ever win against CSK at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in IPL history.
Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up a much-needed win against Chennai Super Kings, taking their points tally to six from nine games. It was their third win of the season and a special one too their first-ever away victory against CSK at Chepauk. On the flip side, things keep getting tougher for CSK, who are still stuck at the bottom of the table with just four points. Their net run rate also took another dip after the loss.
In the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad put on a solid show with the ball, keeping Chennai Super Kings to just 154 runs. Harshal Patel was the star, picking up four big wickets in a brilliant spell. For CSK, Dewald Brevis looked sharp with a quick 42, and youngster Ayush Mhatre chipped in with a handy 30 at the top. Though SRH lost a few wickets during the chase, Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Reddy held their nerve stitching an unbeaten 49-run stand to take their team home comfortably.
Next up, Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings on April 30 at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to face Gujarat Titans on May 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
