Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chances of reaching the IPL 2025 playoffs took a hit after their match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) was called off because of heavy rain on April 26. Both teams had to settle for a point each, which has made KKR’s path to the knockouts a lot harder.
Kolkata Knight Riders have lost their last three games. They remain seventh with six points and a net run rate of +0.212. As the playoff race narrows it has become increasingly difficult for them to make the cut.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings gained from the shared points and moved back into the top four in the standings. This pushed Mumbai Indians down to fifth place. The rain stopped play after just one over of Punjab’s innings. Even though the deadline for a five-over game was set for 11:44 PM IST the match officials called off the match earlier giving both teams one point each.
Meanwhile, the top three teams in the IPL 2025 standings remained the same. Gujarat Titans (GT), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all tied with 12 points. The only thing separating them is their net run rate (NRR) with Gujarat Titans holding the top spot thanks to a much better NRR of +1.104.
