Delhi Capitals thrilling run chase ended in heartbreak as they went from 192/8 to 193 all-out, losing three wickets to run-outs in the penultimate over. Ashutosh Sharma, who was carrying DC’s hopes was the first to be dismissed followed by Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma both falling to run-outs in chaotic fashion. What looked like a possible win slipped away, leaving DC just short of pulling off a stunning chase.
Earlier in the day, Royal Challengers Bengaluru cruised to victory against Rajasthan Royals chasing down 174 with ease. With these results, the IPL 2025 points table has shifted: DC dropped from the top spot to second, RCB climbed to third, MI moved from ninth to seventh and RR slipped to eighth.
Tilak Varma played a brilliant innings and helped Mumbai Indians reach a big total of 205 runs. He was dropped on 20 by Jake Fraser-McGurk and made the most of it. Tilak has been in good form this season and led the way again. Suryakumar Yadav added a useful 40 from 28 balls starting with a big six. Ryan Rickelton gave MI a strong start with 41 runs, while Naman Dhir finished things off nicely with a quick 38 from just 17 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam were the best bowlers for Delhi Capitals both taking four wickets. During the chase, Karun Nair stood out as DC tried to reach the big target.
The 33-year-old made a stunning IPL comeback, scoring 89 runs from just 40 balls with 12 fours and five sixes. He even took on Jasprit Bumrah hitting 26 runs off just 9 balls from the star pacer. But despite his efforts, Delhi Capitals kept losing wickets regularly as Mumbai Indians’ bowlers kept the pressure on. The game took a sudden turn with three run-outs in three balls, which completely changed the momentum. Ashutosh Sharma’s dismissal was the final blow. Players like Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul also couldn’t make an impact as Delhi faced their first loss of IPL 2025.
