Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a dominant eight-wicket win over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on March 31, 2025. Mumbai Indians earned their first win of the IPL season after a dismal beginning to their IPL campaign with defeat in their first two games. By winning against KKR comfortably by 8 wickets, MI at last gained their first points on the IPL 2025 standings. The game saw great performances from new bowler Ashwani Kumar and explosive batsman Ryan Rickelton both playing important roles in MI’s comfortable victory over KKR.
With this important victory, Mumbai Indians now have a total of two points from the three matches they have played in the 2025 IPL season. The dominant 8-wicket win over KKR has also given a significant boost to MI’s Net Run Rate (NRR) moving them to the sixth position in the IPL 2025 standings.
Meanwhile, after their loss to MI, KKR now sit at the bottom of the IPL points table. Although they have the same number of points as the teams ranked up to fourth position, their Net Run Rate (NRR) pushes them down to the 10th spot.
