The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 featured the GT vs RR clash on Wednesday, 9th April. The 23rd match of the season was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the home team Gujarat Titans won by 58 runs.
GT were asked to bat first but had a shaky start as captain Shubman Gill got out in the third over after scoring just 2 runs off 3 balls. After that, Sai Sudharsan (82) and Jos Buttler (36) built a strong 80-run stand for the second wicket during the powerplay. After Buttler’s dismissal, Shahrukh Khan (36) gave good support to Sudharsan adding 62 runs for the third wicket. Sudharsan batted till the 19th over, while Rahul Tewatia (24) played a handy cameo at the end to help GT post a strong total of 217 for 6.*
Rajasthan Royals had a poor start to their chase as Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) got out early leaving the team at 12 for 2. Skipper Sanju Samson (41) and Riyan Parag (26) tried to steady the innings with a 48-run stand. However, Gujarat bowlers kept striking regularly, pushing RR to 119 for 6. Shimron Hetmyer fought back with a solid 52, but the target was too high. Gujarat Titans bowled out Rajasthan Royals for 159 sealing a big 58-run win and climbing to the top of the points table.
Shubman Gill and his team will next face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 12 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will look to bounce back when they take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 13 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
