Who is Ayush Mhatre? Rising Mumbai Star Called for CSK Trials- IPL

Mumbai’s young opener Ayush Mhatre has been called up by Chennai Super Kings for trials at Chepauk, sparking talk that he could be a late addition to their squad for IPL 2025. The 17-year-old went unsold in the IPL auction last November in Jeddah, but he now has a chance to make it into CSK as a replacement if any player gets injured or becomes unavailable.

Mhatre traveled from Rajkot to Chennai, where he is now attending the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy zonal camp for Under-19 players.

“Yes, we’ve called him for trials. He has impressed our talent scouts. If there’s any need, we’ll do that. We’re not picking anybody, it’s just a trial,” he was quoted as saying by TOI.

CSK had invited Mhatre for trials in November last year, just before the IPL auction.
