Playing only his 4th IPL match, Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Priyansh Arya smashed a 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday. Priyansh, who had already impressed with a quick 47 on his debut, was unstoppable against the five-time champions. The left-hander hammered nine sixes and seven fours and took on Matheesha Pathirana by hitting 22 runs in the 13th over to reach his hundred.
He was finally dismissed by Noor Ahmad for 103 off 42 balls but got a standing ovation from his teammates and the team co-owner as he walked back to the dugout. Priyansh’s century was the second-fastest by an Indian in IPL history, only behind Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in 2010.

From Domestic Star to IPL Sensation: Who is Priyansh Arya?
Arya became well-known in 2024 during the Delhi Premier League when he hit six sixes in an over for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers. He scored 120 runs with 10 sixes and 10 fours, helping his team post a huge total of 308/5. He got to his century in just 40 balls.
In the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), Arya was Delhi’s top run-scorer, scoring 222 runs in seven innings at an average of 31.71 and a strike rate of 166.91. Even though he was shortlisted for the IPL 2024 auction, he went unsold back then. He scored his first SMAT century last week, hitting 10 sixes against Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium.
After that brilliant knock, Delhi’s attacking opener Priyansh Arya was picked up by Punjab Kings for ₹3.8 crore in the mega auction and he finished as the top run-scorer in the first-ever Delhi Premier League (DPL), scoring 608 runs in ten innings for South Delhi Superstarz.
