Vipraj Nigam grabbed the spotlight with a brilliant performance in the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. Making his debut for DC at the Vizag Stadium, Nigam impressed everyone with his skills, both with the bat and the ball.
Vipraj Nigam put up a strong performance with both bat and ball. He gave Delhi Capitals an early breakthrough by getting Aiden Markram out. Later, with the bat, he fought hard and stood firm, keeping DC’s hopes alive.
“Vipraj was a batter until his Under-19 days. Then, gradually, he started bowling leg-spin. He has a deep understanding of his batting. I have seen him play good strokes—he has always been fearless and doesn’t hesitate to go for big shots. He has been working hard on his bowling and is turning the ball well,” Kuldeep Yadav said on Vipraj post-match.
“He is a highly talented player. He performed exceptionally well in the UP Premier League and later went on to play in the Ranji Trophy, where he also bowled impressively. I was a bit surprised by his hitting ability I hadn’t seen him bat this well before. I am confident he will achieve great success in his career,” he added.
Who is Vipraj Nigam?
Vipraj Nigam, a skilled leg-spinner from Uttar Pradesh, made a name for himself with a strong performance in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He took eight wickets in seven matches, showing his talent with the ball. Vipraj also impressed with the bat when he scored a quick 27 runs from just eight balls in a match against Andhra Pradesh.
Nigam impressed everyone with his batting in the Delhi Capitals’ practice match ahead of IPL 2025, scoring a solid 54 off just 29 balls. His innings with seven boundaries and two sixes. DC had picked him up for ₹50 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He also made a promising start with the ball in his debut game and will be hoping to put in match-winning performances for DC this season.
It’s still too early to say how successful Nigam will be in the IPL, but his debut performance has definitely made him a player to keep an eye on in the tournament.
