Yash Dayal’s come a long way since that day Rinku Singh smacked him for five sixes in the final over. Now, captain Rajat Patidar trusts him to bowl in the toughest moments and more often than not, he delivers. Even in the match they won by two runs, he kept his cool despite bowling a no‑ball. His dad, Chanderpal Dayal, was quick to praise Virat Kohli for sticking by his son and believing in his talent.
“Virat Kohli has supported him a lot. When Yash joined RCB, Virat would often call him to his room and sometimes, he would even go to Yash’s room himself. They spoke about the journey since 2024, and Virat told him one thing: ‘Keep working hard, create a storm. I’m with you. Don’t worry. Never stop putting in the effort. Make mistakes, but learn from them and keep moving forward.’ Virat has given him a lot of freedom and helped turn him into a fearless cricketer,” Chanderpal told TOI.
“I’ve seen many cricketers, especially bowlers, break down — but Virat has lifted them up with his own hands,” Chanderpal added.
After Dhoni’s wicket, Yash Dayal slipped up with a no‑ball that Shivam Dube smashed for six, and it looked like the game might slip away. But Yash kept his cool, conceding only three singles in the final deliveries to seal the win. His dad, Chanderpal Dayal, admitted even they had their doubts but always believed in him. “Cricket isn’t over until the last ball,” he said. “Yash’s calmness made all the difference.”
Yash Dayal Justifies Patidar’s Trust in Nail-Biting Finish
“He’s one of our main bowlers and a death‑overs specialist, so giving Yash the last over was an easy call. He did well last year too, and I’m really happy for him. I also backed Suyash—he’s been bowling good overs all season. It was a tough choice, but I trusted my bowlers and they came through,” Patidar said.
Yash has picked up 10 wickets in 11 games this season, complementing veterans Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar perfectly.
